7/9 Moved Pre-school form to its own page (Enroll in Pre-school) so as to display more info at the top
7/9 Put a header entry for Music Ministry (still working)

7/9 Need a standard color and font throughout

7/10 Rebuilding home page a
7/10 create link to forms for Wild Things
7/10 Spoke to Linda and Becky for input for repsective pages

7/11 Barry re-organized the top menu.  Music under worship

.  Youth ministry under Christian Ed.  Most minor subpages will go into FAQ.  Calendar on top-line

7/17  Linda is going to prefer to have the music as a separate page rather than under Worship.
Barry, I think our home page, while it should contain current events and announcements, should probably high
light the worship times.  Most of the art work I have been trying out on the headers is from either www.churchartpro.com (account and password are both 22995) or www.faithclipart.com (centerpres@comcast.net, secretary255)  I use both sites quite a bit.   Check out some of our local churches to see what their sites look like.
Trinity United Methodist, and Our redeemer Lutheran.  There are parts of each that I like.  Our Redeemer has header tabs and side bar tabs and it looks nice.

We need to talk Ed into on-line donations.  There are so many tools to help with that now, its sort of silly not to have it included with a new look.  It would be of great benefit to the Preschool and would probably increase giving - especially for memorials.

7/18 Janet -- you haved been busy!!  Site looking good.  Agree with most of the above except placement of picture and hours (see below) which are taking up a lot of room on the home page.

I started to update the library sections and pre-school last night, but it was late, so I will finish tonight (Weds).  I will have a few hours to update tonight.

I will add my thoughts to your comments from 7/17:

1) We should probably be doing our shared ideas with each other via a blog!!  Ha!
2) I didn't look at the other sites, but I would like to keep the "real estate" on the home page very dynamic AND leave as much space as possible for current news so users don't need to click off to a subpage UNLESS they are looking for some specific info.  So I am thinking something like USA Today's web page where there would be a main picture (WIld Things) on the right side and maybe 4 or so links on the left side that are tied to upcoming events -- these links would then go to a subpage for more info (e.g, sign up sheet),  Right now on my laptop, I have to scroll down to see the entire WIld Things announcement.
3) So what do you think about putting the hours under the address and phone number in the home page banner?
4) The church picture is much better than the other picture, but it takes up a lot of room.  What if we put it as the LOGO in the home page banner (and also possibly the PC USA symbol)?  Then we could create another page (sometime in the future) with the full church picture and history.
5) I added a "sandbox" menu page (hidden) for attaching works-in-progress, crazy ideas, future pages, and obsolete pages.  These would not be displayed to the public,   Not too crazy about the FAQ section at this point.  Might put it in the sandbox as a WIP.
6) Does pre-school want to put their calendar on the church web?  Do they have their own site?
7) Got your invite for the newsletter meeting -- nice!!  Like the calendar too.
8) I like the real photos rather than the drawings.  Also, the adult Sunday School picture needs to be replaced.  I will make a note to re-do all of the group pictures on Rally Day.  I will take the pictures or we can hire someone to do it.
9) I will see if I can steal some HTML to dynamically display the Daily Prayer and Thought For The Day too,
10) After we are all done, let us meet bi-monthly to review the site and come up with more ideas.

Janet:

Just noticed that under settings, we have the ability to utilize the footer on each page for a message.

7/19:
Barry, I did notice that footer option also but I haven't done anything with it yet.
I was looking for a blog option on this site, but can't find one.  haha

I see what you mean about the home page.  I changed the header so the picutre shows as a logo and all the worship information in in the header.  With my massively large screen at church, I forget that most people will actually view this on a much smaller screen.  It does make a difference.
