In light of the continuing Coronavirus pandemic and the uncertainty as to when in-person worship will resume, the Session has partnered with the Presbyterian Foundation to offer online giving within the life of our congregation. This can happen in two ways. First, you can click on the "Give Now" button above. Or, you can download the "Give+" App on your smartphone or tablet and make your regular contribution from there. Directions can be found by here as well as Frequently Asked Questions. Both options are fast, easy, and secure while also providing an easy method for supporting the mission and ministry of Jesus through Center Church even when we're not face to face.

A Message from Rev. Tom Moore
DELAY FOR RETURNING TO IN-PERSON WORSHIP
November 19, 2020
Dear Saints,
The Apostle Paul writes to the Colossian Church: “Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds
everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed
you were called…And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus,
giving thanks to God the Father through him (Col. 3:14-15,17).”
I read this on Wednesday evening as our Session met virtually to discuss our impending return to inperson
worship later this month. As I’m sure you’re aware, over the last two weeks the number of Covid-
19 cases in our region, as well as around the country, have dramatically increased. In Washington County,
the current positivity rate is 9.5% and many regional schools have suspended in-person classes due to
increased spread within our community. While preparations have been made for the sanctuary to
provide for a safe worship space, the Session and I agree that it is not wise for us to return to the
sanctuary at this time. In-person worship has been postponed until a later date. Our livestreamed
worship will continue on Facebook.
I recognize that some of you are disappointed by this news. Others are relieved. And still others were
never planning to return to in-person worship until sometime in 2021. While we are in full agreement,
please know that your Session is disappointed too. Personally, I miss seeing you face to face; I miss so
much of what makes Center Church special—namely, her people. But we can draw strength from this: the
living Lord is in our midst, despite physical distance. We are clothed with the love of our Lord that binds
everything together and this decision has been made to ensure every saint within the beloved community
is safe and cared for.
Centuries ago, the ancient Hebrew peoples were liberated from bondage by the LORD in Ancient Egypt.
As they made their way through the wilderness, that difficult and desolate place, their hope began to
wane. They longed for a sense of normal—even the normalcy of slavery. Their life was hard; they
complained bitterly to the LORD. And do you remember what God did for God’s people: the LORD
provided manna and quail. Living in between what is and what will be is challenging, to be sure. But there
is another side to Covid-19, and may we do what we can to take care of one another, doing so in the name
of the Lord Jesus.
In the coming weeks we will provide an update concerning plans for Christmas Eve and a new target date
for returning to in-person worship. In the meantime, if there is anything you need or if you have an idea
for supporting congregational connection or anything else, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.
Love big, Be well!
